Today was the first day of Ada's "school" life. Kindergarten is just the beginning.... She started the day a little sleepy. She woke up, came in the kitchen and said "I"m still tired" and went back to sleep in my bed. I woke her up about 7:15 and she ate breakfast (banana bread muffins from Grammy, her fav). Then she got dressed and was ready to go! We picked out clothes last night so there would be no arguing about her outfit.
School starts at 8:15 and gets out at 3:20. We arrived at 8 and let Ada walk us to her classroom. She insists that I just "drop" her off at the door tomorrow, so I wanted to make sure she knew where to go. She wanted me to drop her off today, but I said no of course. She walked right to her room and recognized her teacher immediately. They hit it off at orientation, so Ada was super excited about going back. Mrs. Dean is her teacher. She is very nice and creative... a "kindred" spirit to Ada.
Mrs. Dean had a picture of us that she took on orientation day above Ada's cubby #5. It was really sweet. There is a basket that Mrs. Dean has on her desk... "the black basket" that the kids are to put all the papers, homework, notes, etc. in. So today we put all the papers we were to sign in the basket.
I shed no tears... Can you believe it? Ada made me promise not to cry so I'm trying to keep my promise. I did, however, get a phone call as I was pulling in the driveway from a Clarksville number. It was Ada! She was using Mrs. Dean's cell phone. Apparently, I was suppose to put those papers back in the envelope they came in... Oops! So Ada was calling to ask if I brought the papers back... Mrs. Dean said Ada was adamant that we brought them back, so she let Ada call. Mrs. Dean said she just missed them b/c they weren't in the envelope. Anyway, Ada got her prize and all is well... Glad she called!
I know Ada will do well. She was so excited to learn and play!
