When it was time for me to go to college, I had lots of different places picked out... Baylor in Texas, Ouachita Baptist, and a few others... I even had a roomate at OBU, but God had different plans for me. I decided to tour at Arkansas Tech University, which was really close to my grandparents. My tour was guided by a girl named Wendy, a delta zeta I might add, and I immediately knew this was the college for me. I loved it. I loved the idea of living with my grandparents and going to college there. Little did I know I would meet my very best friend and my husband there.
I knew I wanted to join a sorority, being the social butterfly I am, and went thru "rush" my first semester of college... Fall 99! There were three sororities, delta zeta, zeta tau alpha, and phi mu. I just new I wanted to be a zeta... but once again God knows best. I went thru rush and immediately knew delta zeta was the place for me. Not long after joining the sorority, we match up with the older girls as "big sis" and "lil sis." I was matched with one Katie Blaylock, now Katie Marsico. God definitely knows best! I don't think it was an accident that we were matched together.
We immediately were the best of friends. It's almost like when you meet your husband you just know that's who you are suppose to marry... I immediately knew Katie would be my best friend. We lived together in college, made lots of fun memories, and then each moved our separate ways as we got married, had children etc... But we kept in touch through it all. Now we have children the same age and are watching them grow up together.
While we were on vacation, I took this sweet picture of Hannah (Katie's daughter) and Ada. I wondered and hoped that they will be the best of friends.
I hope that the see their mothers' friendship and want the same thing. I don't know what I would do without Katie. She's the kind of friend that would drive in the middle of the night to comfort me, fix me "vacation" food, love my children, and make me laugh, make me cheesecake for my birthday, help me plan a charity event for my grandmother, and love me for being just me!
God does know best... He matched me with my very best friend, Katie. I hope Hannah and Ada will share the same!
PS don't hate me for putting this picture of us on the blog....

To borrow from Tara, your little sis - wipe and flick. This is so touching and I am happy to say that it's not a one sided blessing and how much I have loved you over the now many years (except for the picture - for that I hate you - the conditions were just not right, people). I'll go on vacation with you anytime, sis. I read today that a friend is someone who knows all your truths, good and bad, and likes you all the same. Thank you for being my friend.
