This past weekend my SIL, Shelley, my mom, and I went to an entire weekend of scrapbooking. If we heard it once we heard it a million times, "are ya'll with the scrapbookers?" Shelley was like do we have some kind of look to us or what? Anyway, we stayed at Mt. Harbor resort on Lake Ouachita. IT was really nice. The rooms were great, the food was great, what else can you ask for. There was lots of snacks to keep our energy going for the late night scrapping and of course lots and lots of caffeine.
We started our trip off on a late start, thanks to me, so that kind of set the tone for the rest of our travels. Our plan was to leave by 9 from Shelley's house in Clarksville. I arrived at Shelley's about 11 ish... we wanted to get to the retreat early... anyway, we had to go into Hot Springs to eat lunch and do some shopping. We ended up arriving about 4ish I think... A little later than expected.
We got everything set up and scrapped until about 2 am both nights. I was ambitious in what I thought I might get done, but I only accomplished half of one project I brought, Isaac's book. I got to the first month, so that was good.
ON Sunday, we had to pack up and head home. Our directions were suppose to take us around the town of Hot Springs, so we could miss all the traffic. You know how mapquest spells out the directions with estimated mileage between each turn. Well, we were doing great until we came to "Strawberry Road". Huh, we've gone 3 mile, where's strawberry road, so we turn around go back, and look again, well where is it? OH there it is, it has grass growing over it, no wonder we didn't see it... So we decide to use the ole GPS on my phone... There is a large blinking blue dot that represents your location. ( in case you haven't noticed I"m in charge of navigation) So we are heading in the right direction until suddenly the blue dot is off in space somewhere and not on a blue line, which represents a road. Well, by this point we've come to far to turn around, so we continue up the mountain hoping to find hwy 7. We see lots of woods, then Lake Ouachita State Park, then the road comes to gravel... Uh Oh, now what? We see a man on the side of the road talking to some neighbors and we stop to say we are lost and looking for hwy 7, can we get there from here and his response is, "well, you can wonder thru the woods for a while, or you can turn around and go down 192." I said well we have directions, but they say turn down Strawberry road, he says "yeah, strawberry road is now 192..." Thanks a lot mapquest, we'll be using google maps from now on! Anyway, we decide to wonder thru the woods, how bad could it be... It was basically a four-wheeler trail. Lots of trucks parked on the side of the road for hunting, etc.. It was great! We went mudding! We finally came to pavement and ended up right in front of a cute little restaurant, the home plate cafe. If you ever drive thru Jessieville, it's right before you get into Hot Springs Village proper. It was great. So, it was meant to be... It was an adventure... which it usually is if I"m involved. Had so much
fun with Shelley and my mom. Can't wait until next year.
