First Soccer Games...

Ada's first (and second) soccer game... She was so excited to play. Her first game was on a Tuesday evening. As we were getting ready to go, she got all dressed and headed for the car... As she was getting in, she says "Oh I forgot something! I forgot my makeup!" Oh boy...she was so serious. We needed that special lipgloss to get us thru the game. She had fun. She ran, she fell (a lot), she kicked the ball (a few times)... And mostly, she got really tired. By the end, she kind of lost her energy and just kind of jogged along with the team. She also got really upset that she didn't score a goal (hence the crossing of the arms). There were all kinds of fans there to watch.... Bobby and Shelley and Grayson, Poppa and Grammy, Papaw and Nana, and of course mom, dad, brother, and Zack. Her second game was this morning... And as you can see, there was a pat on the back from the coach... That's right, SHE SCORED! I can't tell you how excited she was, as were we. I'm glad she got a boost of confidence. Yay for soccer.

Zackary's first soccer game was bright and early Saturday, September 18, 2010 at 8:30 a.m... For the next six weeks, we will be coaching the "A-Team" on wet, cold grass at 8:30 in the morning... Their games were suppose to be at 9:30, but since we are coaching and Ada's games are at 9:30, they changed the time to 8:30. Yay for us! Zack really enjoys it. He really likes to play the sweeper position, which is basically the person that protects the goal. He does well at it too. I am excited that he likes it. He has a full calendar this fall... soccer, cub scouts, awanas, and children's choir at church... whew we are busy. Not to mention the homework that comes along with first grade. He's juggling it well. He's pretty tired by Thursday, but he pushes thru. I love that he is loving school along with all his activities!

And from the coaches perspective... wow, to coach 6 six year old little boys... It is certainly fun! They get bored, they get tired, they push, they spit, they hit... typical boy things... But most of all they are sweet and love to be a part of the team. It's great to see them high five each other! Even though I know nothing about soccer, I know enough to encourage them to have fun... And they are!
