Grandma knows best...

As time goes by, there are things that happen that really make me remember my grandma. When she passed away, I felt like a large part of me was missing, but as time goes by there are small things that happen daily that make me remember her and cherish the memories we made together. This year was the first birthday of Ada's she wasn't at and as my birthday is coming up, well it's sad for me...
However, I am thankful for the reminders I get daily of her... It's mostly things I do like her or things that she's taught me to do... The other day I made chicken and dumplings (my favorite that she always made me) and with the fear that they wouldn't measure up, they were just like hers... I almost couldn't eat them without crying.
Tonight as I am watching t.v., there is a story about snacks that help you sleep. Grandma was the queen of late night snacking and always, always we would have a late night snack when I was staying with her, which was quite often. Anyway, the three snacks they mentioned were all in her repertoire, AND among the top five: cereal, cottage cheese and fruit (her fave and my moms), and pb&j. I just giggled as I was listening to that and thinking to myself its about time for late night cereal...
Things like that make me miss her, but also make me think of her and appreciate our fun times.
She would have loved that story on the news and any confirmation that she knew best... She did! Just missing her...

I remember having some late night amaretto cherries at her house one night! And there wasn't any cottage cheese to go with that fruit! I'm sure that wasn't the normal late night munchies. She was one of a kind, that's for sure. I was missing her myself at Crissy's wedding. Lawd if she had been there!
